Industrial communication protocols

In modern production, to organize networks, various industrial data transfer protocols are used: Modbus, CAN, PROFIBUS, Ethernet, and others. They provide connection and data transfer between industrial computers, controllers, sensors, and actuation devices. Each of the protocols has its own functionality, advantages and disadvantages. With the development of technology, along with reliability, speed, data transmission accuracy, and the ability to track and control processes in a range of less than 1 ms are becoming more and more important. This is where industrial protocols differ from outdated solutions.

Thanks to the unique on-the-fly EtherCAT packet processing principle, the industrial EtherCAT protocol meets the highest communication requirements and has the smallest cycle time in comparison with all protocols in use.

EtherCAT uses standard Ethernet frames to transmit datagrams, thus maintaining compatibility with any standard Ethernet equipment.

The EtherCAT protocol specification is only available to members of EtherCAT Technology Group. koenig-pa GmbH is a member of this association since 2004.

EtherCAT is used in various fields: automotive, chemical, aviation, wood and metal processing, laser technology, electronics manufacturing, and others. Robotics is one of the most demanded fields used for real-time positioning systems for robotic manipulators.

We offer you to use our products especially developed using EtherCAT technology to solve complex problems of transition to a new high-performance data transmission standard.
