KPA EtherCAT Master 2 for Linux released

It’s our pleasure to announce the release of KPA EtherCAT Master 2 for Linux, version 2.8.3704.0.
This latest update, succeeding version 2.8.1506.0, introduces the following changes:

  • Diagnostic registers performance improvement
Master initialization is now faster when diagnostic registers are enabled. The improvement is especially noticeable on large networks, where a set of diagnostic variables is created for every slave. Slave diagnostics can be viewed in the Process Image. For each slave the following values are available:

    • AL status code
    • processing unit error counter
    • PDI error counter
    • process data and PDI watchdog counters
    • valid data flag
    • port counters: invalid frames, RX errors, forwarded RX errors and lost links

Diagnostic variable names and the meaning of the values are unchanged.

  • EEPROM read operation improvement
RPC EEPROM read operations now return available EEPROM data even if EEPROM access reports CRC, LOAD, or PDI errors. In such cases, the operation completes with the warning status ECAT_S_EEPROM_ACCESS_IGNOR (0x000B) to indicate that the EEPROM data was obtained despite the reported access errors.
  • Owned processor interface
Added a common lifecycle interface for owned processors. Owned processors can now be processed automatically according to Master Processor and Thread Processor configuration. For more information see API Help (Templates/Thread Processor).
